Day 17…………………… Finally a court date!!!!

Busy, Busy Day…. Angela was out of school today for some reason – we’ve learned not to ask! So after a morning appointment with the notary, we picked her up. Enjoyed lunch along the harbour and headed to the court house to present our papers and plead for an early date….. Nyet (no) pleading was allowed and our date as expected, was set for Feb. 28th. We were told however, that the judge may be leaving on a business trip and if so, our date will be moved up….. again, don’t ask just pray for a week or so earlier…….
Photos of the court house attached – seriously! Even Angela commented that the place was "shabby"!

So, now we wait and continue our visits and our quiet (powerless) nights at home…… last night for the third time, we lost power. The Babushka's in the building think the "stupid Americanits" is responsible.... Our heat has been turned down to about nothing.... Galya said must be some governmental rationing going on - they don't control our own heat in Ukraine!

Once Galya left, we played I Spy, her new favorite game. You can see from the piles on the table above.... she always wins!!! And then knitted for a while. She’s really getting the hang of it! She may not need knitting class but will come along with "mama".... One the way back to the Desky Dohm, Angela confirmed that Mama has officially elevated from Princess status to Queen. Papa is King and she is Princess. Zach, Ian and Eric are Prince! :)

You all continue to amaze us!! We all know I would have been deported by now for saying WAY too much!! Charlie's birthday is on the 21st and Erin's the 26th so maybe one of those dates will bring good luck! We are adopting our neighbors 2 cats this weekend---much to Charlie's dismay!! They have a baby who is allergic to them so we are rescuing them! I, in general, don't like cats either but these 2 are adorable---total dish rags in your arms--girls are in heaven! We continue to wait for your email/pictures every evening and say our prayers for you at night! Love to all--The Wilson's

I am so glad to hear all is still moving along. I see you found the Potatoe house. One of our favorites.

Tell Gayla hello from us Nealey's.
Love the pics. Looking forward to the next update.

Blessings,
Gail

Keep up the positive attitude. Seems like things are a bit challenging now. You are at least getting great quality time with Angela. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that the date gets moved up. I love following the blog. Miss you.

Dear Ones,
The pictures of the two of you with Angela were just beautiful. We hope things are moving along well. We are both well, we miss you and are anxious for your return. Things appear to be going well for you and Angela. Have you told here about us? We talk to Norma frequently, and we share information on you. Take care, love you all and hurry home.

Hi Len and Pam
Your journal is amazing. Angela is beautiful and together with you and Pam it looks like a match made in heaven. Angela has found her forever family, although as I have read, she is still doubt. I’ll bet you are missing home and she is apprehensive about leaving her country. I wanted to suggest that you and Pam and Angela make your “family mark” in the Ukraine. Can you find a park and a tree and carve in something that you could come back to visit years from now. I am sure Angela will want to visit the Ukraine in the future. But don’t get in trouble or they’ll throw your American butt in jail and we’ll never get to see you back here again. But knowing you …you’d probably be able to talk your way out. It’s just a thought. One of the most memorable moments that Susan and I had in our adoption adventure was (in addition to the first time we held our baby Selena) not with any of the bureaucratic stuff, but the return home. At CVG, after we got thru customs I recall trudging our way (exhausted) to an escalator. Above the escalator was the sign; “Welcome to America”. Man was that a powerful moment with wife in hand and baby Selena in a sling on my chest. It was very very emotional for all of us considering the long journey it had been. You and Pam and Angela will get to experience that too…and you get the added benefit of experiencing Angela’s joy and excitement and uncontrollable emotion too. Enjoy and God speed to all of you.

It seems like you three are quite natural together now. I'm sorry you're finding the bureaucracy to be, well, so bureaucratic. Hopefully you can focus on your quality time together, and not get too frustrated with the system. It seems like you are able to communicate pretty well with Angela. How is her english? Does she read or write a little? The pictures continue to convey the growing bond and comfort between you. Continued best wishes . . . Teresa, Barrett, Aaron & Abby

Pam,
I have been following your story, thanks to Christine, and it's a daily (and nightly) event. When there's not a new post, I quickly scroll to the bottom to see what time it is where you are and commented to Christine yesterday---"oh, they're at the orphange b/c it's 330". She got a chuckle.
I'm so happy for you Pam, Your Daughter is beautiful!! I also have a 10 year old!!!

Best of Luck and looking forward to reading more!
